Maximum take nothing

Greaves scored 5 as Maximum Points took a hammering at the hands of DC United. Robinson with a hat trick and support from Wain, Willis, Coleman and Holloway completed the route as DC progressed into Round Two of the E.S George Memorial Cup with a 12-0 win.

Sb Sports and Plough and Harrow both made it through to round two with 5-1 victories.

The battle to progress to round two from Division Three came from Wood End WMC and Fazeley Three Tuns. The game started well for Wood End and they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area which Craig Emmerson Superbly dispatched past the Tuns keeper to make it 1-0. Tuns still couldn’t get in the game and found themselves 2-0 down after a through ball by Adrian Pate found Lee Marsh’s run who finished clinically, 2-0 at the break. Wood End came out the better as constant pressure paid off when some battling play by Darren Carter led to Steve Roberts scoring the third and Wood End thinking the game was in the bag. Fazeley decided enough was enough and pegged Wood End back for the last 20 minutes and their persistence paid off when a goalmouth scramble saw Steve Roberts dispatch the ball into his own goal. Fazeley struck their second through a crowd of players to make it 3-2 and an interesting last 5 mins. Although Fazeley gave it all they could they couldn’t find the equalizer and the game ended 3-2.

Goals from Simeon Smith, Scott Manton and Steve Jones wasn’t enough to help Wilnecote Globe progress into the first round of the Nuneaton Trophies League Challenge as Appelby outscored them by 8 goals to 3.

Drayton Manor are through to the second round of the Nuneaton Trophies after a fine 6-0 victory over Black Horse. Manor took the lead early on with Tom Hewitt scoring from a corner. Manor were enjoying the majority of possession and it paid off as they increased their lead through Hewitt again. It would have been 3 but Dayel Caveney managed to miss an open goal from a couple of yards, but soon redeemed himself as he poked home from 6 yards out to score Manor’s third. Just before the break Caveney scored his second with a bullet header to make it 4-0 at the interval. Manor dropped off the pace in the second period but Smythe still managed to score the fifth with a 25 yard rocket. Hewitt rounded up the scoring and sealed his hat trick with a composed chip over the keeper.

Division Two side Grendon WMC handed a spanking to Royal Oak Polesworth FC 9-0. No Details are available at this time.

Division Three leaders Measham FC went out at the first round as Division Five boys Bristan FC came out the better of a 2-1 score line. Bristan played with the wind in the first period and kept the ball on the floor. Playing some controlled football Bristan opened the scoring with an impressive finish from Martin Walker as he broke clear of the defense and drilled a low shot into the corner from just outside the area. The second half started evenly with both sides creating chances but Measham’s keeper being the busier. With a 1-0 victory on the horizon Measham threw everything at a corner and managed to grab a last gasp equalizer and send the tie into extra time. Start of extra time and Bristan using all three subs came out the strongest of both periods and a goal by Richard Steward sending Bristan through.

Glascote Swifts scored three as they made sure Birchmoor’s miserable start to the season continued. Goals from Meah, Parr and Lonsdale were enough to secure the points as the One from Cowell wasn’t enough to earn the points.

Tamworth Castle also remain pointless from 3 this season as they threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 at the hands of Swaggers FC. With 25 minutes to go goals from S. Davies and A. Morris looked enough to hand Castle their first points of the season. But some defensive errors handed Swaggers all Three points and misery again for Castle.

Simon Ward, Nick Geary and Ian Mardling scored for Tamworth White Lion 98 in Division One, but it was not enough for 3 points as Amington Gate scored 3 of their own including two penalties which meant the points were shared.

Warton WMC scored 8 and jumped into third spot with a comprehensive victory over St John’s CC FC.

Fazeley Three Horse Shoes got their League campaign off to the perfect start with a 2-1 victory over SKB Progressive.

Dolphin FC remain Second on 9 points with a 2-1 home victory over Moat FC.

Reddicap Cosmos kept their unbeaten League form continuing as they convincingly beat bottom team Two Gates United 4-1 in division Two.

Edingale Swifts went down 4-2 as Wigginton FC earn their first 3 points of the season. A game that will be remembered more for the referee’s decisions than the football saw Edingale take the lead through Andy Stewart Jones only for the ref to drop a number of debatable decisions and some offside decisions meant 3 Swifts goals were disallowed to let Wigginton go into the break 2-1 up. Second half saw much of the same but when D. Cooke poked home form a corner; Swifts thought they could win from here. Not to be Wigginton scored twice more towards the end as BOTH teams said the game would have been better with a different ref.

Coton Green took the initiative in the game with Mile Oak Rovers FC. Dave Godderidge equalized for Rovers who should have won as Godderidge hit the beans on toast (post) twice.

Double D FC and Wilnecote WMC FC played out a 4-4 draw and enough for a point a piece.

With the top 3 not playing in the league this week in Division Three, the rest tried to gain an advantage.

Fourth placed Tamworth Sports came unstuck to a determined New North Warwick side. A superb Free kick gave Warwick the lead and a hard, low cross tapped in at the back post gave Warwick a 2-0 advantage going into the second period. A Danny Garry cross that was tapped in at the near post by Dan Falvey saw Tamworth Sports get themselves back in the game only for a Warwick bullet header from a corner destroy all hopes and hand the points to Warwick.

Kingsbury Oak moved up into fifth with a 6-2 win over Mile Oak Rovers Res. Shariff and Hopkins netting for the Oak.

The Arms Hotel remain unbeaten although they recorded their first victory of the season in the league with an 8-1 win over Glascote Social Club.

Hockley prince remain unbeaten in Division 4 although they could only manage a point after a 4-4 result with Glascote Swifts Reserves. Griffith, Rose, Beardsmore and another scored for Glascote with Carpenter and Heath replying for Prince.

Tam O Shanter moved up into third with a 6-1 victory over Hurley United.

Centurian came out on top of a 5 goal game as they defeated Drayton Manor Youth 3-2.

Newton Thistle remain Unbeaten as they moved up into fourth with a 2-0 win over Bolehall FC.

Michael Joicey netted twice and Pete Clarke scored the third but it was not enough for Three Tuns Torc as Glascote Swifts Rangers smashed seven of the best and headed to the top of Division Five. Daz Hayles scored the first from a corner as Glascote dominated the first period in which they added another three by the way of Az Powell with a brace and a Stu Dixon wonder goal. Tuns scored three unanswered goals at the start of the second half but a rampant Glascote added three more through Tim Harrison and “super sub” Josh Heaton coming on and netting a brace.

Fox Inn FC made it 3 out of 3 with a 10-1 victory over Bolehall Res. Tom Bryan scoring the solitary goal for the res.

Midland Unity picked up their first points of the season with a deserved 3-1 win over Colin Grazier.

Tamworth Three Tuns moved up into second as they secured all three points with a 3-2 away win over close rivals Rogers Rejects.

Kingsbury FC recorded their first victory with a 2-1 win over Coton Green Reserves.

Finally Stonydelph Old Boys made it 3 out of 4 with a 2-1 win over Kingsbury Rangers Reserves.
